And now that I’ve finished, I just want to go back to the start and re-read the whole series all over again. There are some books you simply can’t put down, and others you want to draw out and savour, and never want to let them end. The story weaves so well between them, and it was an absolute joy to see all of the previous characters returning in this book. This whole trilogy is stunning, I love how the books are all interlinked. The connection between the characters, the emotional depth, and the heart racing descriptions of the baseball games are all so brilliant. This is a beautiful book about second chances, grappling with life’s expectations vs realities, and forging a future for yourself on your own terms. I loved how they found their way back to each other and managed to reconcile. It’s so clear right from the start how much they care for one another, even when stubbornness, anxieties, and lack of communication gets between them. Alex and Jake are brilliant characters so wonderfully complex, and their love for each other jumps off the page.
